Top 10 Healthy Habits

These days, when stress is our main enemy, when harmful food poisons our bodies, when we don’t seem to find time for ourselves, adopting a set of healthy habits may help us to enjoy a long, disease free life. It is not even that hard. We should just pay attention to some little secrets that are known to enhance the quality of life and to plan things ahead. These healthy habits are part of an improved lifestyle which requires some determination and a little bit of care. Here are 10 healthy tips that will really help you enjoy life more:

1. Get enough sleep

Research showed that people who get enough sleep on a regular basis are much healthier than those who don’t. Hence, at least 7 hours of sleep every night are compulsory in order to help your organism function as it should. Moreover, sleeping when your organism demands it, meaning between 22-23 at night and 6-7 in the morning, is very important as well. Apparently, the glands which are responsible with the protection of the brain, with immunity and regeneration processes function best between these hours, when you are supposed to be resting.

2. Don’t miss breakfast

Breakfast is traditionally known as the most important meal of the day. It is justly so. It has been proved that in the morning, the assimilation of vitamins and minerals is enhanced, whereas, the assimilation of cholesterol is lower. Also, taking each breakfast with your family is a great way to start the day and will boost energy and enthusiasm. Breakfast is especially important for children, because it will increase their performance and their attentiveness.  Therefore, give breakfast at least 10 minutes of your time every day and you will notice some wonderful results!

3.  Eat fruits and veggies

Well yes, I know you heard it before, but do you really do it? If not, then hearing it again may push you to comply with this great medical advice, which is also one of the best healthy habits one could adopt. Eating raw fruits and vegetables in a sufficient quantity is one of the secrets of a long and healthy life. We all want that, so we should start paying more attention to these natural, ready-to-eat aliments provided by Mother Nature. Everywhere you go, an apple in your backpack, or in your purse, and a salad as a replacement for a main course will increase both yourself satisfaction and your health. Stop reading about this and start practicing it!

4. Exercise, exercise, exercise

Here we are, sitting on a chair, in front of a pc, most of the day. Then, we go home and sit on the couch for the rest of the day, because we got tired…of sitting on that chair. This is how we get fat; we develop back problems, heart diseases, we complain about bone aches, joint aches and so on. All these troubles have one, big answer: EXERCISE. You don’t even need to kill yourself in the gym. Even walking your dog in the evening, or jogging near your house for 30 minutes will completely change the way you look, the way you feel and the way your body functions.

 5. Drink water

There are many reasons for which you should drink at least two liters of water per day. There is no reason why you couldn’t do it. Your entire organism has a desperate need of liquids: the heart, the brain, the liver, they all use water in their processes, and need it to function well. Joints suffer from lack of water as well and kidney stones by water insufficiency. These are more than enough reasons to start monitoring your water intake, but if you need one more, then know that drinking water as you should will help you lose that pounds that disturb you.

6.  Relax for some minutes

Women have an agitated life…work, kids, housekeeping, cooking and so on. Most of us have days when we cannot find time to even sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee for 15 minutes. I cannot tell you “take an hour break” because I know you would laugh in my face. However, we do need some time for ourselves! It is important for our brain functioning and for our psychic. Hence, try to enjoy some minutes of relaxation every single day. Use an aromatherapy shower gel, and shower for 5 more minutes than usually. Wake up 30 minutes sooner than everyone else and enjoy the silence. Read some lines of your favorite book, shouldn’t take more than a few minutes…do whatever you like, for as much time as you can, but don’t forget to relax every day!

7. Connect with others

Having friends, connecting with others, getting out of the house for some hours are really beneficial for your mind health. As much as you love your family, you need to have friends and to socialize outside your home. This is a basic need of any human being, and one starts feeling it as soon as 2 or 3 years old. Not having any social connection will definitely lead to psychical and personality disorders.

8. Eat Fish and sea food

I am not a fan of fish. However, I know how good is for my body and I make an effort to prepare it in ways that make me forget that it is fish I’m eating. This, of course, may not be your case. Most people like fish and sea food. And what a great source of Omega 3 and proteins it is! Fish prevents heart diseases, helps the immune system and it apparently reduces the risk of allergies, and asthma. You should eat fish and sea food at least twice a week, as part of a healthy diet.

9. Laugh

Laughing is one of the best ways to rapidly eliminate frustration, stress and anger (sex has also this effect), because it significantly reduces the level of stress hormones. Moreover, it helps lower blood pressure and increase blood flow. Also, it will increase your popularity and represents a great way to work some muscles in your body.

10. Hygiene

Hygiene shouldn’t be a problem these days. It is, or it should be, one of those hygiene habits that we all acquire at an early age.  However, apparently, the lack of proper hygiene is one of the three most important reasons for developing cancer. This includes the alimentary hygiene as well. I know you are already paying attention to these aspects, but take a minute and think if there is really nothing more you could do in order to make sure that you and your family are safe from this point of view. Be careful not to exaggerate, though. Excessive hygiene may cause your immunity system to become lazy and stop doing its job. Also, if the immunity system does not have any enemies to fight with, it may “invent” some, and you could develop all kinds of allergies.
