When it comes to any sale, there are always a number of ways you can prepare and make sure you’re making the most of what’s already a pretty great situation. But, not every sale is quite as important as a mattress sale.
We spend approximately one-third of our day, every day, in our beds. So, if anything is worth your time and consideration, it’s your mattress. Where do you even start though?
The first and foremost piece of advice that you should listen to, over anything else, is to not rush your decision. If you go ahead and buy the first mattress that crosses your path, you could end up paying out for a mattress that just isn’t right for you.
With so many variations in types of mattress and brands, there’s a multitude of factors to consider and preferences can differ from person to person. Do you know if you want a soft or firm mattress? Adjustable or innerspring? If you don’t already know, find out beforehand. You want to be ready and confident to buy as soon as you see the right deal.
You know what they say, ‘the early bird gets the worm’ and that is no different here, with some retailers actually dropping their prices as early as the Friday before Memorial Day. Get in there first and get a clear view of all your options, not only will you be making sure you don’t miss out on any deals, but you’ll be giving yourself more thinking time.
Know Your Budget
Set yourself a budget, this will help you stay focussed and not get carried away in the frenzy of the sales. With so many deals flying around, you should be able to find the right mattress that fits your budget if you stick to your guns.
Consider All Options
Be sure to shop around too, not just in-store, but online. There are so many resources to consider; readily available at your fingertips online that it would be silly not to look into. From customer reviews to online buying guides, there are bundles of information available to help you find the perfect mattress. You can keep on top of all the Memorial Day bed sales as and when they’re released here too.
Check The Returns Policy
Found your ideal mattress? It’s time to check out the return policy. Do you have a good amount of time to change your mind if the mattress turns out to be not quite what you expected? Make sure you get the facts before you buy, not everyone willingly hands it out, but there’s absolutely nothing stopping you asking outright for it.
The Three Types of Deals
Finally, be aware that there are multiple varieties of deals. From discounts to bundles or rebates, there are pros and cons to each of them that you should explore before diving headfirst into the mega mattress deals.
Discounts take a percentage of the price instantly, rebates offer you a form of cash back after paying the full price for the mattress and bundles can see you receive a variety of other goodies as well as your mattress; bedding, a bed base or foundation, you could be on to a winner.
First things first with any of the aforementioned deals; check the fine print. You don’t want to be won over by a deal that looks great on the surface, but hidden in the fine print is a clause that contradicts what you found to be great about the deal in the first place.
Keep an eye out for deals that offer a mix and match of each of the types also, some brands have been known to offer a discount with a few free goodies thrown in for good measure. Likewise, some rebates do the same.
Remember to ask yourself though, do you actually need the free goodies? If the answer is no then this may not actually be the best deal for you. You could end up paying more for a mattress that you want and have a surplus of bedding that you don’t actually need, when you could have found a better deal on the mattress alone.
This is one of the best times of the year to buy a mattress, so although you may think that discounts are quite common all year around, you’ll be hard pressed to find a discount as large as those offered around Memorial Day. So why wait? Now’s your chance to upgrade your sleeping experience.
