Doggy Style

Most of you have probably tried doggy style before but it also happens to be one of the best sex positions for pregnant women. It allows deep penetration and also allows you to protect your sensitive areas – your stomach and your breasts. Get on your hands and knees on your bed and support your stomach and shoulders with pillows. Your partner can then either stand or kneel behind you and enter you vaginally or anally. Some women will find this painful so be sure you let your partner know if he’s hurting you. Doggy style also allows your partner to easily stimulate your clitoris with his fingers as he thrusts. It’s no surprise that this is one of the most popular positions for pregnant women and non-pregnant women alike.

Sitting

If you want an intimate and exciting sex position to try out during pregnancy, have your partner sit in a chair – make sure it’s a sturdy one! – and straddle him, guiding his penis inside you as you sit in his lap. You have more control over the depth and speed of penetration but will also be eliminating the pressure on your stomach. The sitting position also allows a heightened level of intimacy as you’re mostly face to face and can kiss and cuddle as you have sex.

Spooning

During the later stages of pregnancy it can start getting pretty difficult to find a position that’s comfortable for you. Your stomach is getting bigger and bigger and that can provide an interesting obstacle to try to get around when having sex. In addition, once you reach a certain point in your pregnancy, deep penetration can become quite painful for many women. For that reason, spooning is ideal for late stage pregnancy sex. Laying on your side, allow your partner to lay behind you and enter you from behind. As with doggy style, he’ll be able to stimulate your clitoris for a more powerful orgasm but spooning only allows for shallow penetration which is much more comfortable for a woman nearing the end of her pregnancy.

Reverse Spooning

This position is more or less the same as spooning except instead of your partner lying behind you, you’ll be facing each other. You’re still able to take the pressure off your stomach but deeper penetration is possible. It’s also far more intimate as you’re able to look into each other’s eyes, kiss and cuddle more. For obvious reasons though, this isn’t always a great position for later stages in your pregnancy as your baby bump can be a bit of a hurdle to overcome.

Pregnant Missionary

Pregnant missionary isn’t really just for pregnant women but that’s really neither here nor there. This one offers a new take on the standard missionary position with the focus on taking the pressure off of the woman’s stomach. You’re going to lie on your back and bring your knees toward your chest. If you find it hard to hold the position, you can rest your feet against your partner’s chest or, if you’re able to, rest them on his shoulders, as he kneels below you and enters you. Some women will find this one a bit uncomfortable. If you need to, you can place a pillow under your butt or even under the small of your back to offer a little more support. Women beyond their fourth month of pregnancy should avoid this position however as you shouldn’t remain on your back for any significant amount of time.

You can also try this position on the edge of your bed with your partner kneeling or standing on the floor beside the bed. Lie back on the bed  with your legs hanging over the edge. Put one of your partner as he enters you. To make the position as comfortable as possible, have him support your legs for you by holding them. You can also rest your feet on his shoulders and chest if it’s easier and more comfortable for you.

Woman on Top

This is a favorite of many women before, during and after pregnancy as it allows them a greater measure of control. This is especially beneficial for the pregnant woman as you control the depth and speed of the thrusting. Have your partner lay flat on his back and get on top of him with one of your legs on either side of his hips. Guide his penis inside you as you settle onto him. Thrust as fast and hard as you like but remember to stop if you experience any pain or discomfort. After a certain point in the pregnancy, many women have a hard time in this position as it can be very physically exerting. It’s up to you when to cross this one off the list but make sure you don’t push it further than your body wants to allow.

Again, this is only a brief list of some of the best sex positions for pregnant women but feel free to experiment and try out what works before for you and your partner. Always focus on comfort and avoid putting pressure on the stomach and you should have no trouble finding a terrific position that will leave both you and your partner satisfied. Sex doesn’t have to end with a positive pregnancy test. Have fun with it! Get creative and enjoy the experience.
