On the Road Again… How to Plan the Ultimate Girls’ Road Trip Getaway

When it comes to a girls trip, could there be anything better? Not really. Girls trips allow you to leave the stressors of work, kids, and your significant other, at home or at the office. You, of course, love your family and need your job but to have a break away from them is always a good thing.

Just imagine all the “girl talk” that will happen on the way to the destination… it’s better than any gossip magazine you could ever read! But in order to get the trip going, it takes planning. Planning is actually the factor that sets girls trips apart from guys trips! When “the guys” go on a trip, they just get to the destination and plan the trip as they go… with women, we need certain things planned out.

As the organizer or planner of a girls trip, there are definitely things you’ll need to consider, and it’s not always easy either. Things like everyone’s interests, must-sees, budgets, and feelings. In order for you to be dubbed as the queen of road trip planning, take a look at these rules you’ll need to follow to plan a fun road trip for “the girls.”

What are the Needs of Your Girlfriends?

The keyword here is “need,” not “want.” Everyone on the trip can easily tell you where they want to go and what they want to do but what do they really need to get out of this trip? Find out what the intention of the trip needs to be from everyone.

Maybe everyone going on the trip has been extremely stressed from work and really needs to get away. If that’s the case, then you need to plan the trip with relaxation in mind. Maybe a trip to a cabin in the mountains would be ideal to meet their needs.

If it’s been a while since everyone has had “real adult fun” away from the kids, then maybe a trip to a location where everyone can let their hair down, have a couple of drinks, and party the night away is just what the doctor ordered!

Protect Your Girls’ Road Trip

When going on a road trip, anything can happen. That’s why it’s so important to take safety precautions. If you’re driving your own car, you want to make sure you have your insurance, get your oil changed, check your tires, and check your brakes.

Even with all those safety precautions, the fact that you’d be away from home means that injuries are bound to happen. In fact, the CDC states that 20 to 50 million people are injured in car accidents and vehicular incidents are the leading cause of death among travelers. That just goes to show you that you can take precautions but you have no control over what type of precautions other drivers make.

Set a Clean-Cut Budget Attainable for Everyone

A budget set “per person” would be ideal, that way everyone knows what their part to pay will be and everything will be fair. You don’t want anyone to feel left out because they’re “too broke.” Ask your girlfriends to be honest about what they can afford for the trip. Some things to consider include:

  • Gas
  • Food
  • Activities
  • Rental Car
  • Hotel

Maybe going to the beach was the goal of the trip and the Santa Monica Pier is where you originally wanted everyone to go to but due to everyone’s different financial situations, you need to plan for a beach that’s a little closer to home. That doesn’t put a dent in your plans because essentially, you just wanted to plan a trip that everyone could go on and be together… where the beach is isn’t a deal breaker.

Try Something New Together

Let’s say you and your girlfriends get together every year for a big trip and go to Las Vegas or somewhere extravagant like that. How about you plan this trip to be something totally different that all of you can experience together. Maybe none of you guys have ever been zip lining or rode a horse before… this trip is the perfect time to try a new experience.
