Sometimes you Man Candy Monday voters really surprise me and this last week’s vote is a terrific example of that. Not only was James Lafferty such a popular nominee that I chose to add him as an option on the poll (something I’ve only done once before) but as a contestant on the poll, he earned enough votes to take the win. You James Lafferty fans sure are a loyal lot. I have to admit though, until this weekend, I wasn’t all that familiar with James. Because I like to put together the best profile I can, I checked out a few episodes of One Tree Hill, read a few bios on him and decided that yes, I am most definitely a fan. I actually can’t believe I’ve overlooked him up until this point and One Tree Hill? Definitely a great show. I’ve added the series box sets to my birthday wish list.

It isn’t hard to see why people love James so much. A show like One Tree Hill naturally draws in loyal viewers who are willing to tune in every week to see what’s going to happen next. While the show wasn’t quite as big in the end as it was in the beginning, that strong fan base was still there. As viewers get more wrapped up in the show, they find themselves getting more interested in not just the characters but the actors and actresses that bring those characters to life. This is where the “fandoms” get started but it is really the actor or actresses that causes the fandom to grow and develop, oftentimes to include people outside of the show’s original fan base. This is the case with James.

The problem with being new to a fandom and attempting to do an article like the one I’m doing is it can really be a struggle to do the actor justice. I’ve done a fair bit of research on Mr. Lafferty but there really isn’t a wealth of information out there about him. This only makes me like him more, to be honest. While there were some raised eyebrows when James began dating his One Tree Hill costar, Sophia Bush, considering Sophia’s history with their fellow One Tree Hill cast mate, Chad Michael Murray, James hasn’t really been involved in any major scandals. You don’t see his name in the tabloids. He’s a low key, every day sort of guy and there’s very little I find more appealing. James has built his fan base the old fashioned way – by being good at what he does.

Although I’ve only just discovered James’ work, I can easily see him becoming a new personal favorite. With two movies on the way and a healthy, well rounded resume behind him, I’m quite certain we’re going to be seeing a lot more of James Lafferty – especially with his fan base rooting for him as they are. Man Candy Monday polls are no stranger to the power of a strong fan base. Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki of Supernatural fan all have fans rallying in support of them. We also can’t forget The Vampire Diaries which is tied  at three with Supernatural for the most cast members to get a Man Candy Monday profile thanks to fan support for Ian Somerhalder, Joseph Morgan and Paul Wesley. I also must mention Mr. Lukas Rossi who had a whole army of fans voting him to his Man Candy Monday win. James Lafferty, however, has the distinction of being the first Man Candy winner to take the title without starting the week on the Man Candy poll. Not only was he a write in nominee, he was a write in winner and I’m thrilled about it. Not only does James have everything that makes a man worthy of the Man Candy title, but I also discovered a new obsession in the process so thanks for that.

So that’s about it for this week’s Man Candy. Okay, enough talk – it’s time for our James Lafferty gallery. Enjoy!
