How to Stay Healthy While Stuck at Home

If you live somewhere that has been gravely affected by the coronavirus, then there’s a good chance that you’ve been asked to stay at home, so that we can all fight this together. While you might not have personally had the virus, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try to stay as healthy as possible.

While staying at home is the first step to being healthy, you’ve got to maintain this for however long lockdown is. Let’s take a look at how to stay healthy while you’re stuck at home so that you can prevent yourself from getting sick in general.

1.   Take Regular Breaks from Work or Study

If you’re working from home right now or school is continuing on virtually, then there’s a good chance you’re spending a good portion of the day working at your computer, sitting down.

If this is the case, you’ll need to ensure that you’re getting enough breaks from the screen, and your body can move around enough. Stand up and walk around every hour or so to let your body stretch, let your blood circulate, and allow your mind to have a momentary break.

2.   Stay on Top of Testing

Of course, if you suspect that you are sick with the virus, it’s important that you go and get tested for it. However, if you feel confident that you aren’t, you’ll want to be able to stay on top of other testing right now as well.

The trouble is, it’s going to be pretty difficult to make a doctor’s appointment – even if they are an essential service. This is where things like at-home STD test kits come in. There are plenty of options available, and it means that you can stay on top of testing for your health at home without having to venture outside.

3.   Make Online Prescriptions

If you have a pre-existing medical condition, you might have a regular prescription that you need to keep updated. If it’s a relatively serious medical condition, you’ll need to make sure that your prescription can be filled no matter what.

If you can’t go out to do so, then try doing it online. There will be a number of different online pharmacies in your area that can fill your prescriptions virtually and then deliver your medication right to your door.

4. Take Care of Your Mental Health

When it comes to your body, everything works together to function normally. This means that your mental health is just as important as your physical health. You might be experiencing higher than normal levels of anxiety and depression right now, especially if you are separated from your friends and family.

Make sure that you take time out to care for your mental health, too. Keep in touch with those that you love, and do a detox from screens and social media.

Keeping yourself well during this time of uncertainty is more important than anything right now. While you’re at home, stay as healthy as you can.

5. Choose simple and healthy

If you are taking care of your family members and yourself also working from home, it can be very difficult to find time and energy to cook. But at the same time you cannot go for fast food or restaurant cook food every time. So it is best to cook healthy recipes for yourself and your family. Easy recipes will not only be light to your health but also take less time to be cooked.

If you have kids, assign them kitchen tasks according to their age. You can ask the preschool aged children to wash vegetables and the teams to help you cook full meals. This will also busy your children and help you spend a good time in the kitchen.

6. Don’t forget to exercise

Involve yourself in yoga.as you cannot go to the gym or attend your fitness classes but there are plenty of apps you can use for this purpose. This will affect your blood flow, your body and reduce anxiety and depression. Invest at least 30 to 40 minutes in exercise daily. You can also go for a walk or run if convenient.

7. Use plant based food

Choose fresh plant based foods. Do not fill your refrigerator with processed foods because they contain more chemicals that her ears will consume for a long time. In fact, use fresh vegetables and stir fry them with brown rice or cauliflower rice, saute them and serve with a whole wheat pasta.

It is much more than the nutrients you need. It is healthy, good looking and colourful. Also, fill at least two thirds of your vegetables with whole grains and fruits & use protein for the rest.
