Beauty and veggies two worlds that cross

Since the beginning of recorded history, human beings have always tried to find ways to improve their health and be more attractive. Our knowledge of the importance vegetables and fruits have as nutrients has increased with time, and we now realize without a doubt that our food plays an essential role in being healthy. Recent studies have proven that even beauty can greatly be enhanced by eating proper food. In addition, many oils that are derived from fruit and vegetables are in reality very useful beauty aids when applied directly to the skin.

Perhaps the most widely known use of a vegetable to enhance beauty is the use of cucumber slices on the eyes. This is not just a trend or method of relaxation, but is a process that has been around for ages, which soothes and helps the skin around the eyes.  The cucumber, When the cucumber is applied on the eye (generally for 15 – 30 minutes) it will hydrate the skin, alleviate puffiness, tighten the skin and leave it more radiant. Cucumbers which are fresh and stored in the fridge for coolness will produce the best outcome. The use of this simple tip, less expensive than commercial eye creams, has the added advantage of drawing its benefits from pure ingredients that nature offers as a free gift.

Raw potatoes are another aliment that can be used for beauty purposes. Putting small slices of potatoes under the eyes for around 20 minutes will dramatically diminish unwanted dark circles.  The reason behind this positive result is the enzyme contained in the vegetable called catecholase.

Applying some vegetable oils on the body, during massages for instance, improves the natural skin barrier and can help those with various skin problems because of their natural antibacterial properties. Some oils are rich in linoleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid and fatty acid which are all important elements for maintaining healthy and stunning skin. There are many oils known to aid in making beautiful skin such as sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil and even olive oil.

The common, yet delicious, tomato is a fruit that provides silica, which assists in preserving the elasticity of the skin, healthy nails and glossy hair. Soya provides zinc which is needed to produce smooth skin.  Known vitamins that ensure long term beauty are Magnesium, vitamin C, Beta Carotene, Sulfur and Vitamin E which are all found in fruits and vegetables. Foodstuff with an abundant supply of these vitamins are Cabbage, Broccoli, Garlic, Oranges, Pumpkin (as well as Pumpkin seeds), Olives, Avocados, Kiwi, Almonds and other nuts.

If you desire to gain or maintain a beautiful body, you will need vegetables and fruit daily. This has become an unavoidable fact because beauty does come from the inside — it’s undeniable that the proper functioning of all that is inside the body has an effect on one’s beauty. Vegetables and fruit contribute indisputably to healthy bodies and their oils can be extremely beneficial when applied to the skin, which makes them a helpful and needed friend in staying beautiful. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.”
