When skeletal was a huge trend in modeling, several models succumbed to death in order to stay skinny and “beautiful”. This was followed by the banning of very skinny models but we still see some of them gracing the runway and magazine covers today. Should we blame a designer’s penchant for exaggerated and tall silhouettes or our current standard of beauty? There are surely more factors that play a huge part in this trend but looking at the following models, you will probably long for the day when voluptuous (or even shapelier) becomes the norm.

With her trademark red hair, she is one of the top runway models today. Her face looks flawless but the rest of her body is scary thin. She has a 23.6-inch waist.
2. Andreea Stancu
This blue-eyed beauty is from Romania. She stands at 5’11” and has a 23-inch waist. Some photos show her ribs from the back and they are not flattering at all.
3. Kim Noorda
Kim is from the Netherlands. She wears a US size 4. She has revealed to Vogue that she struggles to maintain the body type that the fashion industry demands of models.
4. Colette Pechekhonova
Colette is from Russia. When you search “skinny models” on any search engine, you will probably see one of her photos right away.
5. Snejana Onopka
This model wears a US size 0-2. She is from Ukraine. At her thinnest, she weighed only 45 kilograms or 99 lbs.
6. Magdalena Frackowiak
She has lots of photos with her arms raised and the sight of her ribs is enough to make any mother cry. Magdalena is from Poland.
7. Vlada Roslyakova
This 23-year old model is from Russia. She has doll-like lips and is one of the most beautiful on the runway today. She is dangerously thin, though. Look at her arms!
8. Tatiana Lyadochkina
she looks healthy but that’s just probably due to good makeup and wonderful lighting. Tatiana is Russian.
9. Gemma Ward
Gemma once retired because of weight issues but she may be getting back to modeling anytime soon. She was once an “It Girl” in the modeling world and was a favorite of many photographers, publishers, and designers.
10. Irina Lazareanu
Despite her great style, Irina could seriously use some fattening up. She is Romanian-Canadian. Standing at 1.77 meters or 5’9”, she has a tiny 24.5-inch waist.
