There must be something in the water in Hollywood these days. Women are getting pregnant left and right and I love it. Why? Because I love celebrity baby bumps and there have been some great ones over the years. Celeb baby bump photos show us a side of our favorite celebs we don’t often see – a softer, more maternal side that is so beautiful. Of course, everyone handles their pregnancy differently.
Mariah Carey has long been open about her desire to have a baby and now that her dream has come true with husband, Nick Cannon, she really seems to be having fun with it. We haven’t been treated to many pictures of Mariah’s baby bump, but this one makes up for it. This picture is just adorable. Mariah is due this spring.
The first pictures we got of the Miranda Kerr baby bump weren’t fun or playful. Instead, Miranda went another way with it – showing the world that pregnancy is beautiful by taking her clothes off for “W” magazine. Of course, Miranda isn’t the first woman to show off their baby bumps this way, but Miranda’s baby bump pictures offer a much softer, more intimate feel. Miranda gave birth to her son, Flynn Christopher Bloom on January 6th of this year. He is the first child for both Miranda and husband, Orlando Bloom.
While some celebrities show off their baby bumps in magazine shoots, Pink chose to take a more personal, direct approach by taking a self-portrait and sharing it with her fans on Twitter. The result is a beautiful, intimate and moving photo. Pink’s baby bump picture is by far my favorite celebrity baby bump picture. Pink is due this spring and this will be the first child for her and her husband, motocross star, Carey Hart.
Kate Hudson’s baby bump picture (shown above) really shows not only the joy a mother feels but also the joy that baby brings out in those around them. My favorite celebrity baby bump pictures are the more candid ones. Photo shoots are wonderful when they’re done well and with a photographer that really understands how to bring out the natural beauty in a mother-to-be. Often times, though, a photographer in a studio is unable to capture what a photographer can capture with a candid. Most of the pictures on my top ten celebrity baby bumps list emphasize that. Let’s take a look.
10: Halle Berry
Pregnant with baby Nahla (born Nahla Ariela Aubry on March 16, 2008 with Gabriel Aubrey), Halle shows us a side of her we’re not used to seeing. She’s dressed down and casual but she still looks beautiful. At this point in her pregnancy, she must be exhausted and sore, but there’s that slight hint of a smile on her face. Even at the end when you’re ready to just have the baby already, pregnancy is still beautiful.
09: Alicia Keys
I love this photo of Alicia Keys and her baby bump because it shows women that getting pregnant does not have to mean the end of bikini time. Alicia is confident, sexy and very pregnant with son Egypt Daoud Ibarr Dean (born to Keys and husband, Swizz Beatz on October 14, 2010) in her bikini and ready to relax in preparation for her big day. Just remember, take precautions if you’re pregnant and plan to get a little sun.
08: Penelope Cruz
I love Penelope. I think she’s one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. More than her beauty though, I love her very “un-Hollywood” attitude. She’s private and her relationship with Javier Bardem has only intensified that. The couple quietly married in July of 2010 and only announced their pregnancy when photos of a pregnant looking Penelope surfaced. I love this picture because it shows pregnancy doesn’t mean giving up casual style. She looks beautiful, comfortable and ready for her baby to arrive.
07: Heidi Klum
With four kids, Heidi Klum has plenty of baby bump pictures out there, but this one is my favorite. It’s just so relaxed and casual. It’s nice to see supermodels who are just as beautiful without a team of hair and makeup artists tending to them. I also love her smile in this picture. You know at this point in her pregnancy she’s tired and she’s sore, but the smile in this picture looks so genuine. I love this shot.
06: Jennifer Lopez
Before Jennifer was showing us her softer, more sensitive side on “American Idol”, she was known as a bit of a diva. Very pregnant in the photo above with twins (Emme Maribel Muñiz and Max David Muñiz born on February 22, 2008) Lopez looks a little worn out but is still glowing, proving that pregnancy is no easy experience but is also one of the most amazing experiences a woman can have.
05: Gwen Stefani
I truly believe Gwen Stefani will go down in history as a style icon. She has a unique flavor that’s all her own and the above picture proves that pregnancy does not mean sacrificing your style. I love everything about the dress – the print, the cut, the colors – but I also love how happy both she and husband, Gavin Rossdale, look. They’re both beaming and that’s lovely to see.
04: Natalie Portman
While perhaps not the most pronounced baby bump on the list, I love this picture because it shows that a woman can hit the red carpet and look beautiful without making their baby bump the focal point of their attire. Natalie has a very “Old Hollywood” kind of poise and grace. She doesn’t highlight her baby bump but she doesn’t try to hide it either. Instead, she stands as the woman she is and she looks beautiful doing it.
03: Angelina Jolie
Many celebrity baby bump pictures look awkward, like the woman in the photograph was trying to conceal the bump, but not Angelina. Angelina is a gorgeous woman to begin with, but in the picture above, she just seems so comfortable and natural. That’s not something you would often see on a red carpet, but she’s positively glowing. Motherhood suits her… obviously.
02: Brooke Burke
Brooke offers the only “photo shoot” celeb baby bump picture on the list. This is one of my favorites because it’s a captivating picture. A mother of four, Brooke is clearly no stranger to pregnancy and I think that’s why this picture is so lovely. Aside from that, I love bare belly baby bump pictures, especially when they’re done right and this one is. It’s fun and lighthearted. The photographer isn’t trying to be artistic or make a statement. Instead, the goal here just seems to be to capture Brooke and the joy of pregnancy. Goal accomplished.
01: Alyson Hannigan
I can’t exactly explain why I love this photo so much. I guess what really gets me about it is the fact that Alyson is so very pregnant and so very tiny at the same time. I love Alyson’s personality. She’s an adorable, funny, fiery girl and that really shines through in this picture. This picture shows one of the most important things new mothers should remember – having a baby does not mean losing yourself. It’s something many new mothers forget but Alyson seems to have managed to hold on to.
