If movies were emoji’s

Emojis are rapidly taking over when it comes to communicating online or by mobile phone, as they offer an easy visual way to indicate how you are feeling. People are constantly using fresh and fun methods of expressing themselves, with emoji’s being the latest example of this.

The rise in the use of emoji’s has led to the development of emoji puzzles, which involve having to guess anything from a song title to the name of a movie from three or four emoji’s and letter clues. These are just a few fun emoji puzzles to try your movie knowledge out on and you can test your film passion further with those available on the Ladbrokes site.

Actors

Starting things off with the names of famous actors, one emoji puzzle gives you a picture of a tomato, followed by one of half of a ship at sea in a photo frame. Bear in mind that you can take some of the letters from the answer to any of the symbols, rather than all of them – for example ‘tomato’. If you remember this and apply some lateral thinking, you should get Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise.

If that is proving too awkward, try the one with a picture of a teddy bear’s head, a woman dancing and a sun. Again, shortening words offers the solution, which is Ted Danson, former star of the Cheers sitcom.

Films

The titles of movies are also popular emoji puzzles, and one good example features a picture of a clock face, a hammer and an orange. Think about what hammers are used for and Stanley Kubrick cult classic A Clockwork Orange should soon become clear.

Another great one to try features a ‘no entry’ sign, a US flag, the number 4 and three old men’s faces. This is a real puzzler, but thinking of the US as just another ‘country’ might help you to think of dark Coen Brothers Oscar winner No Country for Old Men.

Quotes

Emoji puzzles based on movie quotes can be a real challenge. One good one features pictures of human faces from childhood to old age, alongside clock faces showing different times and a bar of chocolate. It is a tough one to get, but you’ll find the answer is the Oscar winning 1990s classic Forrest Gump, and his famous quote “Life is like a box of chocolates”.

Another one features a picture of a crying emoji, then a man rowing a small boat, then a smiling emoji and finally a large ship. The key here is in the boat sizes and of course the answer is “You’re gonna need a bigger boat” from the classic disaster movie Jaws.
