Remember that woman? The always perfectly put together with her hair and makeup done before the rest of the family was even out of bed? The woman who cooked three square meals a day, kept the house spotless, baked cookies and never complained? Was that woman your mother? Well God Bless her, but she’s definitely in the minority these days.
Mothers today have a choice, assuming finances allow. You can choose to stay at home and focus on raising your children or you can choose to have a career as well. Stay-at-home Moms have a full time job in and of itself. Being a strong, confident woman doesn’t just mean working your butt off to get a good career. It means making the choice for yourself and being the woman you want to be – working mother, stay-at-home mother or making the choice to not become a mother at all.
In honor of Mother’s Day, I’ve compiled a list of the sexiest mothers in Hollywood – the women who show us that being a mother can be sexy. I find the term MILF a tad overused but in the case of these women, it’s definitely fitting. Whether continuing their career or taking time off to raise their children, these woman have all shown that being a mother doesn’t mean you have to give up being sexy. Let’s take a look at the twenty sexiest mothers in Hollywood (in no particular order).
Kate Hudson: The Mother
Kate had her first child, son Ryder (shown above) in 2004 with now ex-husband Chris Robinson (of The Black Crowes) Although the two divorced, they remained close for the sake of their son. Kate announced in January of this year that she is pregnant with her second child (with Matt Bellamy of Muse).
Kate Hudson: The MILF
You may know Kate from her role as Penny Lane in Almost Famous or her more recent work in romantic comedies like How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, You, Me and Dupree, Fool’s Gold, or Bride Wars. Kate is most appealing to me because she does her own thing. She is who she is and that is sexy.
Brooke Burke: The Mother
Brooke had her first child, daughter Neriah, in 2000 with Garth Fisher. The couple married in 2001 and had their second child, daughter Sierra Sky, in 2002. After the couple divorced in 2005, Brooke announced her engagement to actor David Charvet. They had their first child, daughter Heaven Rain, in 2007 and their son, Shaya Braven, a year later in 2008.
Brooke Burke: The MILF
You might know Brooke from Dancing with the Stars. Following her win on the show in season seven, Brooke returned to Dancing in season ten as a host. You may also know Brooke from her two Playboy pictorials (in 2001 and 2004), both of which were shot after her first child was born. Of course, if you’re like me, you remember her from her stint on Rock Star in 2005 and 2006.
Denise Richards: The Mother
Denise Richards has two children with actor/warlock Charlie Sheen, daughters Sam (born in March, 2004) and Lola (born in June, 2005).
Denise Richards: The MILF
You probably know Denise from her roles in Starship Troopers, Wild Things, The World Is Not Enough, Drop Dead Gorgeous and Scary Movie 3. You may also know her from her E! reality show, Denise Richards: Its Complicated. More than likely, though, you know her as Charlie Sheen’s long suffering ex-wife whom he had a very public and very messy custody battle with. Today, Denise focuses more on raising her children and making sure she does everything she can to protect them from the media circus surrounding their father.
Sofia Vergara: The Mother
Sofia gave birth to her son Manolo Gonzalez-Ripoll (with her then husband) in 1992 when she was twenty.
Sofia Vergara: The MILF
You probably know Sofia from her role as Gloria Delgado-Prichett on ABC’s Modern Family although she has quite a solid film resume as well including Lords of Dogtown (Amelia), Four Brothers (Sofi), Madea Goes to Jail (T.T.), and Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns (Cheryl). She has also made guest appearances on television shows like Dancing with the Stars, Dirty Sexy Money, Entourage and Men in Trees.
Sandra Bullock: The Mother
While married to motorcycle building and Monster Garage host Jesse James, Sandra acted as step mother to James’ daughter Sunny. The couple began adoption proceedings four years prior to bringing home son, Louis Bardot. Sandra proceeded with adoption proceedings following her separation and eventual divorce from James.
Sandra Bullock: The MILF
Sandra is proof that you don’t have to give birth to a child to be a mother, acting as a step-mother, an adoptive parent and now a single parent. Sandra personifies grace, poise dignity and pure sex appeal. Side note: Sandra was my very first girl crush.
Kendra Wilkinson: The Mother
Kendra gave birth to her first child with husband Hank Baskett, son Hank IV, in December of 2009.
Kendra Wilkinson: The MILF
You probably know Kendra as one of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends, her Playboy pictorials or from her appearance on the reality show Girls Next Door which centered around Hef and his girlfriends. More recently, Kendra has appeared on Dancing with the Stars’ twelfth season (she was eliminated during week seven). Kendra is Kendra – unapologetic, brash and tough enough to play with the boys.
Halle Berry: The Mother
Halle gave birth to her first child, Nahla Ariela Aubrey (with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubrey) in March of 2008, although she’d previously adopted ex-husband Eric Benet’s child from a previous relationship.
Halle Berry: The MILF
Halle is one of the most beautiful women on the face of the planet, and even with all sorts of personal drama happening in her life, she doesn’t lose the grace she carries herself with. She’s strong, confident and beautiful. Most importantly, she doesn’t seem content to let others take charge of caring for her children. I think that’s incredibly important and pretty rare in Hollywood.
Gwen Stefani: The Mother
After marrying Bush rocker, Gavin Rossdale in 2002, Gwen gave birth to the couple’s first son, Kingston James McGregor Rossdale in May of 2006. Two years later, in August of 2008, she gave birth to their second son, Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale.
Gwen Stefani: The MILF
Gwen Stefani is the style icon of her generation. She is a woman that isn’t afraid to take chances and isn’t afraid to admit that she’s vain. Gwen is proof positive that being a mother does not mean you can’t be stylish. When women become mothers, they often lose who they are as a person and Gwen seems determined not to let that happen. That’s important. The kids won’t stay little forever. Eventually they will grow up and leave the home. It will be a hard day, but if you hold on to who you are as a person and not just as a Mom, that empty next will feel a little less lonely.
Heidi Klum: The Mother
Heidi gave birth to her first child, daughter Helene Boshoven “Leni” Klum in May of 2004. Although she was dating musician Seal at the time, they had only started dating after Heidi got pregnant with another man’s child (Flavio Briatore). Seal was there for Leni’s birth and adopted her in December of 2009, four years after he and Heidi were married. Seal and Heidi have three biological children together; son Henry Gunther Ademola Dashtu (born in September of 2005), son Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo (born in November of 2006), and daughter Lou Sulola (born in October of 2009).
Heidi Klum: The MILF
You know Heidi as the quintessential Victoria’s Secretangel. Although she’s now retired and is focused on other pursuits, a woman this strong won’t soon disappear. I would say that her marriage to husband, Seal, seems to be one of the most stable, loving marriages in Hollywood.
Gisele Bündchen: The Mother
Gisele gave birth to her first child, son Benjamin Rein Brady, in December of 2009. She also acts as step-mother to husband Tom Brady’s son with actress, Bridget Moynahan.
Gisele Bündchen: The MILF
What kind of list would this be without Gisele? Sure the beginning of her relationship with now husband, Tom, wasn’t really the most honorable, but things seem to have worked out nicely. She fills the role of step-mother and mother without having lost that spark that made her such a unique person to begin with. Gisele seems to have this weird wide-eyed innocence and vulnerability that makes her even more attractive. Jumping back into work after having a baby couldn’t have been easy, but Gisele seems to have found a beautiful balance between mother and model.
Jennifer Lopez: The Mother
After denying she was pregnant for quite some time, Jennifer finally confirmed her pregnancy (also known as one of the world’s worst kept secrets) in November of 2007. She gave birth to fraternal twins, Emme Maribel Muñiz, and Maximilian ‘Max’ David Muñiz in February of 2008.
Jennifer Lopez: The MILF
Motherhood changes women. Suddenly things that once seemed important take a backseat and Jennifer Lopez is no exception. Gone is the diva J-lo. As her role as judge on American Idol, we see a softer side of Jennifer and it’s a welcome chance. After taking a bit of time off after giving birth to her kids, Jennifer is now playing the role of working mother and she seems to be pulling it off beautifully.
Tina Fey: The Mother
Tina and her husband (composed Jeff Richmond) welcomed their first child, daughter Alice Zenobia Richmond in September of 2005. In April of this year, Tina announced that she was five months pregnant with her second child.
Tina Fey: The MILF
You may know Tina from her work on Saturday Night Live, her role in Mean Girls (which she also wrote) or her portrayal of Liz Lemon on the tragically underappreciated NBC sitcom, 30 Rock. In her new book, Bossypants, Tina discusses a great many things in depth including her parents, her own struggles as a mother, her career and the challenges of being a woman in comedy. It is this fearless honesty and biting wit that make Tina most attractive. She has openly admitted to being terrified of giving birth to her second child at forty, but always with that sense of humor that has made her who she is today. If you don’t have Tina’s book, get it right now. It’s hilarious and unflinchingly honest. This woman is my hero.
Miranda Kerr: The Mother
After marrying actor Orlando Bloom in July of 2010, Kerr announced she was pregnant with the couple’s first child in August of the same year. She gave birth to son Flynn Christoper Bloom in January of 2011.
Miranda Kerr: The MILF
You likely know Miranda from her modeling work and her multiple appearances for Victoria’s Secret. More than likely, though, you know her as Orlando Bloom’s wife. What I like about Miranda is that she doesn’t back away from her new role as mother. She relishes in sharing the intimate moments between mother and child with the world and genuinely seems to love and respect her new role as mother.
Jessica Alba: The Mother
Jessica gave birth to her first child, daughter Honor Marie Warren, with husband Cash Warren in June of 2008. In February of 2011, Jessica announced that she was pregnant with the couple’s second child.
Jessica Alba: The MILF
What isn’t sexy about Jessica Alba. I’m not even sure what more I have to say here. The woman is sexy but not completely over the top with it. There’s an almost wholesomeness is her sex appeal. Although her mouth sometimes gets her in trouble, that’s one of the greatest things about her. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Confidence and strength are incredibly sexy characteristics for a woman to have.
Angelina Jolie: The Mother
In March of 2002, Angelina adopted her from child, son Maddox Chivan, from Cambodia. In July of 2005, Angelina expanded her brood, adopting daughter Zahara Marley from Ethiopia. She gave birth to her first biological child with boyfriend, daughter Shiloh Nouvel, in May of 2006. In March of 2007, the fourth child joined the now Jolie-Pitt clan when son Pax Thien was adopted from Vietnam. In July of 2008, Jolie gave birth to fraternal twins son Knox Léon and daughter Vivienne Marcheline.
Angelina Joli: The MILF
Angelina is the ultimate MILF. I’m a straight female, and I want to ‘f’ her. With her roles in Tomb Raider, Wanted and Salt, Angelina has proven that yes – women can kick just as much ass as men. On the other hand, her roles in movies like Changeling, A Mighty Heart, and The Good Shepherd have also shown the more sensitive side of femininity. She is a tough woman that also oozes sensuality. Her role as mother to six kids and her role in shedding light on humanitarian causes around the world only serves as further evidence that women can play a lot of roles – strong, confident, brave, insecure, sexual, modest – and can do anything they put their minds to.
