Most people believe men and women belong to different planets. While Venus might have an irresistible esoteric nature to it, mars has a simplified beauty about itself. A man’s world is simple and uncomplicated and hence making him smile end to end is not really that hard to figure out. All it needs is observation. Very few men actually manage to ever grow smart enough to hide their interest or disinterest, excitement or boredom, possessiveness or jealousy, greed or even lust.
Most men prefer value for money and hence gifting them with something special needs to be from his viewpoint and not the woman’s. While most women are touched by the romantic angle, men not so surprisingly are excited by the utility of a gift. It doesn’t take a great scientific analysis to realize hence, that most men prefer an electric shaver to scented candles. Probably the odd man out might still be fine with a candle stand, as it is a useful thing to have.
That doesn’t mean men are not romantic or that men are very practical. Men believe in a world of dreams too. How many women really take it upon them to surprise their men with a candlelight dinner with violins playing and a lovely evening sight of the city? Most men would be floored by a lady who takes the onus to arrange for such an evening. The law of exception still applies and some men might find an intrusion into their territory, but that feeling could be soothed by letting them pick the menu and have the drink of their choice.
The door to a guy’s heart always is hinged on his interests. Most guys are crazy about one thing or the other. Some love literature, some love music, some love computer games while some are totally into sports. The easiest way to choose a gift for a guy is finding out what activities excite him. A shade of the woman’s touch could be there in the choice. A football is an obvious choice for a footballer, however, his favorite club’s jersey or a nice pair of sports shoes are the ones that do the magical trick.
The literature type can be won over by the hard bound limited edition copy of his favorite book. Some have gotten lucky in the past, being gifted with handmade leather bound diaries. At least it displays the fact that his taste and interest are being appreciated and encouraged. Guys love to be right and telling them that they are, directly or indirectly is the surest way to their heart and mind too.
Observation always lets hints about the likes and dislikes of a person. Sometimes the more reserved and introspective kind of guy is hard to figure out. He is not vociferous about what would make him really happy. But his friends still usually know what he likes and what he doesn’t. Women can take a leaf out of the guys’ books. A visit to the nearest mall with any excuse could do the trick. Following a guy who is strolling through the alleys gives a lot of insight about him. Does he stop at the leather show room, or the sports accessories window excites him more? Does he stare at a supermodel’s poster or smile at children’s pictures? Or does he just pull out his cell phone and start playing games? Each of these questions has an answer and the ideal gift for each of the above is not hard to guess is it?
Men are of various categories they could be either professional type, artistic type or the adventurous type. It doesn’t take a lot for an intelligent person to figure out what kind he is. The professional would love a high end watch, probably a great tie and broach set too. The adventurous would love a watch too, but something that’s less expensive, unbreakable and waterproof. There lies the difference and the effort required to distinguish that could often make or break his heart. The guitarist might end up dedicating his first composition to the woman who gifts him with that expensive black acoustic guitar. But it is not all about the price. If it were, love stories wouldn’t ever start in colleges. But they do, because some girls are smart enough to figure out that a guitar holder makes him smile too.
A beautiful record of Mozart’s composition might impress the artistic woman, a guy prefers downloading it. Give him an iPod or even the mp3 player to stash tons of his songs and he is happy. Even the arm band to hold his music player isn’t too bad a gift. A giant teddy bear doesn’t mean anything to him, probably a small CD pouch will do. Most men love gadgets. Electronics fascinate them. A metronome for the musician or a sleek alarm for the workaholic isn’t too difficult to pick. Guys have a good memory. So you don’t have to gift him a bronze flower vase. Probably a coffee mug with a testimonial would be cherished longer.
Anything that makes a guy’s life simpler or saves his time is worth gifting it to him. A hands free headset, or a computer mike, a sound system or even a sound card, it is not difficult at all to find what he needs. And he needs something or the other all the time. Most women fall in the same trap when selecting a gift for a guy. Guys admire women who gift them something that motivates them or shows support. Women select gifts which they want, but it doesn’t work that way, except, in the case of flowers. Yes, most guys might not admit but they love getting flowers from their lady, especially in front of their other friends.
Men might be from a different planet but at the end of the day they love being pampered too. If you have it, spend it on him and he will etch the moment forever. A great fender for the guitarist or the Xbox for the gamer, men are not heavily materialistic but they sub consciously search for the concern, approval and adoration of the one they want to be with for the rest of their lives.
